Semiconductors

With the term semiconductor indicate some elements of columns III, IV and V of the periodic table, characterized by an electrical resistivity intermediate between that of the conductors very low and extremely high that the insulators. The semiconductor may be composed of a single atomic species of the fourth column (elemental semiconductors: Si, Ge) or can be combinations of the elements of columns III and V or II and VI (compound semiconductor).
